Geography Bee winners!

We have exciting news at Hampton-Dumont Middle School!
Question?  "Disney's blockbuster movie 'Frozen' was set in the fictional land of Arendelle, which was inspired by the country of Norway. Norway is located on which European Peninsula?"   Did you know the answer is Scandinavian Peninsula? Zach Galindo did and it made him the 2015 Hampton Dumont Middle School Geography Bee Champion! Zach is a 7th grader and was champion in his second try at the Bee in three years. Fifth grader Eli Fink was awarded second place after he battled with Keturah Sauke to qualify for the championship round. Keturah, an 8th grader, was the second runner up.
Zachary has taken a written test to see if he can qualify as one of the top 100 students in Iowa to compete on March 27, 2015. The top student in Iowa would then compete in the United States Geography Bee in Washington D.C. on May 13. Those U.S. finals will be on TV.
Hampton Dumont is proud of the 23 finalists. All students in grades 5-8 at HD took a qualifying test. Those 23 whom made the finals are fifth graders Eli Fink and Carter Hobson; 6th graders Jakie Uthe, Katelyn Proctor and Elle Westhoff; 7th graders: Abe Schiedeman, Alex Salinas, Angie Doran, Erick Hernandez, Gloria Rodriguez, Laela Ragsdale, & Logan Walker; 8th graders Ashlyn Hanson, Brody Angstman, Cassidy Robbins, Damian Doran, Damien  Whitley, Kian Gibson, Madison Drilling, Owen
Kirschbaum, and Sara Buseman.
